And back in KL once more

My fears proved true - after the last post, I couldn't go into the Net for an entire week! It's as if the Internet connection in my housing area just crashed completely - I couldn't even log in. Ah well . . .

My training in the last week was alright. The Great Eastern Kuching office is located at the Travillion, behind the HSBC bank building at the Padungan roundabout.

It was an introduction to the world of insurance ... its concepts, activities and tasks. And also to the company in general; the agents, managers and front-line staff, the different departments and their individual roles and etc. And to jump into the myriad of policies, riders, benefits, premium levels ... let's just say it''s all abit of a shock. From a world of pure health science, medicine and biology, it's now a leap into the world of business, actuarial science, risk management and so on. **Wheeuh** Having a case of "intellectual indigestion".

I'm starting in the KL Head Office tomorrow morning; supposed to be there around 8am to meet the H.R. staff for final registration details. The Head Office is at Menara Great Eastern, along Jalan Ampang and 2.7 km away from KLCC. It's next to the Great Eastern Mall, so at least there's a nearby place to go during lunch or for basic shopping needs.

Travel-wise, it's a 5 minute walk to the bus stop, a 10/15 minute bus ride followed by an LRT ride for 3 stations, before capping it off with a 10/15 minute walk to the actual place.
And so ... no longer a student or a teen.
My classification is now a young working adult.
Even so ... never forgetting ... that I am ultimately the citizen of another Realm, and the Ambassador of the King.
Onward!

In Kuching once more

Arrived safely back in Kuching in a two-thirds empty Airasia plane. The pilot was so free to rev the engines ... so we reached 10 minutes earlier ... but it involved going through around 15 minutes of turbulence! Met up with a friend and his bro during the flight, so at least had someone to chat with.

So ... it's another 5 days before I begin work. Have to start getting ready and prepared, be it mundane stuff like getting a hair cut, new ties and the lot; or preparing a proper mindset and attitude for work. Will be cruising around Kuching as well to see how she's doing ... after all, once I begin work, I don't think I'll have much time to return to Kuching frequently. Home's still home, regardless of how small, backward, and slow-paced it is.

My home's internet connection is hazy at best, so I don't know if I can access the Net the next time I try to log on. Meaning, no certainty if I can keep this blog up to date.
Till next time then!

To work, to work!

Hello there everyone.

I am sorry for the long break in blogging. Happens when you are out travelling with your family and going for church camp. No sure internet connection as going from place to place, and even now am using my cousin's computer (thanx Alan!). Down to JB, up to KL, then down to Malacca, up to KL, then to Genting, then now in KL again. **Whew**

To update everyone, thank God I was accepted by Great Eastern Life Assurance as an insurance underwriting officer on the 22nd of May. I am on a 1 year contract-basis 1st, to assess if my epilepsy can withstand the stresses of the job. A few other coursemates have also been accepted, so not too lonely there.

I'm going for my eye check-up tomorrow at 8am in HUKM, before flying back to Kuching on Tuesday (12.6.2007). Will be starting work in Great Eastern's Kuching branch for 1 week 1st, from the 18th till the 22nd of June. Then fly back to KL on the 23rd before going to work in the KL headquarters from the 25th of June. After that, my graduation will be this August, sometime between the 11 - 17.

Currently, I am still staying at my old place in Setapak Ria, KL. I'm hoping to shift to a church member's house later this year, as I think it'll be for the best in terms of my overall future. Getting a car and other details ... leave that for another month, eh?

Will try to maintain this blog, but no guarantees as I will have to overtime and will be tired after a long day at work. Keep in touch!
